Building software for students in Bangladesh teaches you quickly that the “average user” does not exist. Some study on a new phone with fast Wi-Fi; many study on a budget Android phone with patchy mobile data. Here is what made the biggest difference for us.
Design for slow networks first
Questions, images and explanations are cached so students can keep practising when their connection drops. Answers are saved locally and synced later. Downloads are small, and images are compressed for low-end screens.
Plan for exam-day spikes
Traffic is not steady. The night before a major exam, or when a live mock test starts, usage can jump many times over in minutes. Live exams therefore run on infrastructure that scales automatically, and results are calculated in the background rather than all at once.
What keeps students coming back
- Instant feedback: an explanation right after every answer, not just a score.
- Small daily goals: a 10-question practice set is easier to start than a full test.
- Fair competition: leaderboards grouped by class and exam, not one giant list.
- Progress you can see: weak topics highlighted so students know what to study next.
The features students praise most are rarely the clever ones. They are the ones that save time and remove frustration.
Content is a product too
A learning app is only as good as its question bank. We built tools so subject experts can add, review and correct questions quickly, and every reported mistake goes straight to the right reviewer.
